My Boss

Cheng Yao, aspiring lawyer, secures a position at Junheng, a leading family law firm. Opting to live nearby, she faces an unexpected twist when her landlord double rents. Agreeing to share with another tenant at 80% of the rent, Cheng Yao is unaware that this seemingly harmless "housemate" is none other than Qian Heng, the boss at Junheng.

During Cheng Yao's first team meeting, she received a sharp reprimand from Qian Heng for her lack of proficiency in basic legal knowledge. It became evident that Qian Heng's harsh attitude was not just about pushing her out of the shared living space but also aiming to force her out of the law firm entirely. Unbeknownst to Cheng Yao, another partner at Junheng, Wu Jun, harbors a secret love for her sister, Cheng Xi, dating back to their student days. Wu Jun had covertly aided Cheng Yao in securing admission to Jun Heng, driven by his unrequited feelings for Cheng Xi, who had repeatedly rejected his attempts to bring her into the firm.

Late at night, Cheng Yao finds herself humming a song and cooking at her workstation. Consequently, Qian Heng ends up falling asleep on the office sofa. The next day, this unusual incident catches the attention of colleagues at the law firm. Despite its absurdity, Qian Heng has to face the reality that whenever Cheng Yao is around, he can easily doze off. Desiring a good night's sleep, he persuades Cheng Yao to consider a career switch and become his personal assistant. Unaware of his intentions, Cheng Yao finds Qian Heng's behavior odd but remains steadfast in her dream of becoming a lawyer.

Cheng Yao wakes up in a panic, but Qian Heng finds a pretext to have her move into the shared rental house. He uses a substantial compensation bill to coerce Cheng Yao into relocating and taking on the landlord's duties, including solving all of Qian Heng's life problems and preparing midnight snacks. Cheng Yao deeply regrets her intoxicated mistake but reluctantly agrees to Qian Heng's request, moving back to the shared rental house. Despite Qian Heng requesting Cheng Yao to prepare midnight snacks daily, he never actually consumes them, leaving Cheng Yao perplexed.

Cheng Yao doesn't take Qian Heng's words to heart and devotes herself to assisting Bai Xing Meng in finding evidence. However, Xu Jun had numerous companies, making the investigation challenging without complete information. Qian Heng, engrossed in the case all day, neglects to eat. He finally sleeps at midnight, only to be awakened by a stomachache. Reluctantly, he reheats the food in the refrigerator and consumes it. Surprisingly, a warmth spreads from his mouth to his stomach. Accustomed to high-end fast food, Qian Heng never anticipated that home-cooked dishes could be so delicious.

Upon learning about Cheng Yao and Cheng Xi's amusement park plans, Wu Jun reveals that the president of the Law Association instructs Qian Heng to accompany Cheng Yao to the event and emphasizes not to be absent for this year's Golden Scale Award. With excitement, Wu Jun heads to the amusement park, eagerly anticipating an "accidental encounter" with Cheng Xi. Meanwhile, Qian Heng takes Cheng Yao to the Law Association's activity, only to realize upon arrival that the so-called event is a law firm networking gathering. Left with no choice, they participate in the unexpected affair.

Bai Xing Meng privately approaches Cheng Yao, tearfully expressing concerns about being followed and threatened by Xu Jun. She pleads with Cheng Yao to reject Xu Jun on her behalf. Unable to ignore Bai Xing Meng's distress, Cheng Yao decides to support her and turn down Xu Jun's settlement request as per her plea. To their surprise, the next day brings news of Xu Jun's suicide by jumping off a building, accompanied by a suicide note. Xu Jun's tragic death becomes headline news. Bai Xing Meng, however, shifts all responsibility to Cheng Yao and engages Deng Ming's law firm instead. It is only then that Cheng Yao realizes Bai Xing Meng has taken advantage of her.

Concerned about the recent incident, Qian Heng keeps a close eye on Cheng Yao, fearing its impact on her. Sleep eludes him when he hears cries emanating from her room. Little did he know, Cheng Yao spends the night watching romantic movies in her room, and despite the tears, she emerges the next day brimming with energy. Taking inspiration from online suggestions, Qian Heng decides to implement some ideas from netizens to help Cheng Yao overcome her sadness.

Since her divorce, Cheng Xi has been actively involved in charitable work. However, Deng Ming has persistently bothered her. This time, he uses his sick mother's birthday as an excuse, hoping that Cheng Xi would visit her at the hospital. It is only during this visit that Cheng Xi discovers Deng Ming has not informed his mother about the divorce. Meanwhile, Wu Jun has been pursuing Cheng Xi closely. He expresses his interest in collaborating on public welfare initiatives at Junheng and invites Cheng Xi to join the efforts. Cheng Yao has reapplied to take on cases, and Qian Heng assigns her the divorce case involving the affluent Dong Shan.

Wu Jun, under the guise of being a public interest lawyer, requests to become Cheng Xi's assistant. Qian Heng states that there is no need to continue investigating Dong Shan's case, and Cheng Yao learns about Dong Shan's unexpected death in a car accident. The two attend Dong Shan's memorial service, where his wife, Jiang Wen Xiu, is overcome with grief. She earnestly asks Qian Heng and Cheng Yao to keep confidential the matter of Dong Shan's desire for a divorce before his death. Qian Heng, under the pretext of flimsy excuses, attempts to spend the night at their shared unit. However, Cheng Yao, being oblivious, fails to discern his intentions. Seizing an opportunity, Qian Heng takes charge of a trust case involving the Tang Bing family from another city. He devises a plan to take Cheng Yao on a business trip, successfully convincing her to stay in the shared unit by emphasizing its proximity to the airport.

Tang Bing approaches Cheng Yao under the guise of an assistant, with the intention of engaging in sexual harassment. Remaining composed, Cheng Yao gathers evidence and cleverly uses it as leverage to escape the situation. Upon returning to her room, Cheng Yao is visibly shaken. Fortunately, Qian Heng arrives just in time and witnesses the incriminating video recorded by Cheng Yao. Without hesitation, Qian Heng confronts Tang Bing and adamantly refuses to work with him. While touched by Qian Heng's support, Cheng Yao can't shake off the concern that Qian Heng's actions may jeopardize his legal license.
