Scottish film actor David Hayman, star of the ITV drama Trial and Retribution, begins his series exploring the scenic beauty, history, and culture of Scotland with a journey into the Highlands and Islands across Argyll to Glencoe. Along his way, Hayman visits Easdale Island – once the centre of the Scottish slate industry and now home to the World Stone Skimming Championships – and goes on to the notorious Corryvreckan Whirlpool before reaching Glencoe and a brutal engineering masterpiece of the early 1900s: the Blackwater Dam.

David Hayman heads to Lewis and Harris to discover the hardships of crofting, finds out how local artists gain inspiration from the landscape, and takes in the stunning scenery at Luskentyre beach.
The actor embarks on a journey into Speyside and the Cairngorms, where he fulfils a childhood dream aboard a restored steam train, feeds Nordic reindeer and canoes down the River Spey to seek out the oldest living thing in Britain.
David's journey draws to a close with a venture along the rugged North Sea shores of East Lothian. Here, he takes a trip to Bass Rock, discovers the origins of Scotland's national flag and of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. Last in the series.
